The Budget and Finance Committee on March 3 voted to favorably recommend resolution 25‑67, a tenure-adjustment measure to pay staff the 10‑year adjustments previously promised.
Ms. Holdren summarized the item: 10‑year adjustments were granted for the 2024–25 fiscal year but were capped at $10,000 pending sales-tax revenue. She said employees had been told the capped amounts would be reevaluated in January 2025 to determine whether the remainder could be paid.
Holdren said finance and administration reviewed spreadsheets and found base information and some calculations were incorrect. "It is in administration's recommendation to just carry out what was promised to employees," she said, adding staff will then work with Burris Thompson and Associates to reevaluate the pay scale and correct any outstanding issues.
Committee members expressed support for making employees whole. Alderman Linville called the situation “grossly inequitable” for staff promised adjustments who did not receive them. Vice Mayor Pomeroy said he reviewed the data and was ready to vote in favor. The chair moved to recommend the resolution; the committee approved the motion 3–0.
The committee’s recommendation moves the resolution to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for final action; staff said the payments will be funded from available revenues and that a consultant will be retained to review the pay plan.
