ECICOG director says climate grants are proceeding but face risk; thanks Linn County staff

Karen Kurt, executive director of the East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG), updated the Linn County Board of Supervisors on regional grant work and the role of county contributions on March 10.
Kurt said ECICOG’s work is largely funded by grants and that the limited county dollars the organization receives are important as grant match and to support administrative capacity. She said two climate action planning grants were the most at risk under the current federal administration but that a court order had allowed work to continue for now.
Kurt singled out county staff and board members for help and thanked Darren, a long-serving county representative who served on ECICOG’s board for 10 years and received a belated plaque. Supervisors and other county staff in the room echoed appreciation.
