Lawmakers heard detailed testimony in support of House Bill 1583, which would require coverage for medically necessary rehabilitative services for Arkansans who have an acquired brain injury.
Dr. Danny Bircher of the UAMS Brain Injury Program described the clinical window after severe brain injury when intensive rehabilitation can produce major recovery. "We have about a 1 to tier 2 year range where we see massive improvement if patients get rehabilitative care," he told the committee.
