City Council adopts updated major-city goals, adds mass-transportation and homelessness services language

SAN LUIS OBISPO — The San Luis Obispo City Council on Feb. 25 approved revisions to the city’s major goals and priorities, adding a new mass-transportation objective and changing homelessness language to include services alongside shelter and housing. The council voted 5-0 to adopt the modified goals.

Council members said the changes are meant to clarify the city’s focus as staff develop work plans and prepare budget priorities. The newly adopted homelessness language reads, in part, “leverage external funding with regional partners to expand crisis response and the continuum of shelter and support programs.” The new transportation bullet directs staff to “support policies and programs aimed at expanding and improving mass transportation.”
