A letter in the committee packet, the sponsor said, confirms that subject-matter experts signed off on the content of the revised forms.
Committee members were shown examples of the proposed changes. The sponsor described a redrafted warning that replaces legalistic phrasing with simpler language meant to reduce consumer confusion, and noted that lists of items were changed to bulleted format to improve readability.
No public testifiers at the committee hearing sought to speak on the bill. The committee approved a motion to place House File 2,543 on the general register by voice vote; the committee record shows the motion prevailed.
The sponsor asked the committee to consider additional plain-language work across branches of government to improve access to legal and financial forms.
