Senate staffer asks committee to extend Copper Mine Cafe’s Baltimore liquor license until July 1, 2026

Sandy Rosenbluth, chief of staff for Senator Attar, asked the Maryland Economic Matters Committee on behalf of Senator Attar to grant a temporary extension to the Class BD7 alcoholic beverages license held for Copper Mine Cafe at 5736 Falls Road in Baltimore City. Rosenbluth said Senate Bill 1013 would move the license’s expiration date to July 1, 2026, to allow completion of a transfer of ownership and a renewal at the same location.

Rosenbluth told the committee that Copper Mine Cafe acquired the BD7 license in 2023 from a prior establishment, The Curb Shop, and then undertook substantial renovations. She said the management intentionally did not open for public service during the renovation period and that by March 2024 the license was considered expired after more than 180 days of inactivity without alcoholic beverage purchases.

"This bill would ensure that the license does not expire until 07/01/2026 for the purpose of completing a transfer of ownership and renewal at the same location," Rosenbluth said. "I respectfully urge you to support this bill to allow Copper Mine Cafe to continue to operate and thrive in our community."
