Committee amends HB 92 to narrow language on voting conflicts and advances the bill

Senator Lang offered a committee amendment to House Bill 92 that would strike one section (section 2), renumber the remaining provision, and insert the phrase “or pending” in a clause dealing with voting on matters previously decided by the planning board in a quasi-judicial capacity.
The sponsor and other senators discussed the amendment on the floor. Senator Lang formally offered the committee amendment and Senator Perkins Quocca seconded it. The clerk read back the amendment, the committee voted in favor and then voted to report the bill as amended “ought to pass.”
Committee members said the insertion of the three words would address concerns raised about the original language and limit the change to the narrower wording agreed in committee. The amendment was adopted by voice vote and the bill as amended was advanced.
