Greg Schultz, Land Use Director, said the total parcel is about 30.5 acres, with roughly 12.01 acres being platted into three lots (approximate lot sizes 4.00, 4.01 and 4.00 acres) and the remaining 18 acres to remain in agriculture. Commissioner Oberg moved to approve the final plat; the motion received a second and passed by voice vote.
Interim use permit 16570 — Concrete ready-mix plant: The board approved interim use permit 16570 to operate a concrete ready-mix plant in the A-1 Agricultural Preservation District in Forest City Township. Land Use Director Greg Schultz described the proposed facility: an 80-by-20-foot building housing mixing operations, two approximately 70-foot batching hoppers outside, and use of aggregate materials from a nearby pit. He said the operation is expected to employ 10–15 workers and run Monday–Friday and limited Saturdays. Commissioner Van Ort moved to approve the permit with stated conditions; Commissioner Oberg seconded and the motion carried.
Humane Society agreement: County staff sought approval of a new two-year agreement with the Humane Society of Kandiyohi and Meeker Counties to provide animal sheltering and clinic services for Meeker County residents. County Administrator (Andrew) said the new contract continues an annual appropriation and adds a $50 per-occurrence charge when the Humane Society picks up animals from the city of Litchfield impound to better align costs and reduce year-to-year swings. Commissioners approved the agreement by motion.
County Treasurer job description — retitle to finance director: With the county treasurer planning to retire in August, the board approved an updated job description and retitling of the position to finance director. County staff said the change reflects a reorganization in recent years that consolidated financial duties and aligns the title with similar positions in neighboring counties; commissioners approved the update and authorized recruitment.
Other procedural actions: The board approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda, which included approval of March minutes and several accounts-payable items.
