Elizabethton board hears plan for Middle College with Northeast State to let juniors finish an associate degree

Elizabethton City Schools officials and a representative from Northeast State Community College presented a plan at the board meeting to launch a Middle College program that would allow qualified juniors and seniors at Elizabethton High School to complete a 60-credit associate of applied science degree while finishing high school.
District staff said the program would combine high-school and college coursework during the regular school day and use a mix of in-school, online and northeast-state–taught classes on the Elizabethton campus. Staff identified roughly 15 students who have expressed interest in the initial cohort.
