At a special meeting of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, the board voted to pause all work on the county's coroner's facility project and to cancel all contracts related to that project.
The move followed an executive session called under Colorado Revised Statutes 24-6-402(4)(e) to determine positions related to negotiations on development of county property. The board announced the executive session at the start of the special meeting and listed those who would participate, including County Attorney Chris Floyd, Commissioner Elsa, Commissioner Matt Bullock, Commissioner Lee and Interim County Manager Lauren Snyder.
After returning from executive session, an unidentified commissioner proposed "I would like to propose a motion to, put a pause on all work on the coroner's facility project and to cancel all contracts related to the coroner's facility project." The motion was seconded and, after a roll call, the commissioners voted in the affirmative. Commissioners recorded three "aye" votes; the motion passed.
Board members also noted on the record that no decisions were made during the executive session itself and that the vote to pause work and cancel contracts occurred after the public meeting was reopened. The special meeting convened at 9:33 a.m. and concluded shortly after the vote.
No dollar amounts, contractor names, schedule changes or follow-up deadlines for implementing the cancellations were provided on the record. The board did not discuss further details about contract termination procedures, potential legal or financial implications, or next steps during the recorded portion of the meeting.
