Carter County Board recognizes students with national finishes; director reports 85% virtual‑day participation and Hampton High School planning update

Happy Valley students including Elijah Jones, Nick Bailey, Mackenzie Dean and Blake Wind were recognized for speech and national qualifying team accomplishments.
Carpenter reported that the district's recent virtual instruction days had roughly an 85% participation rate and called the outcome "a success," while noting it remains a work in progress. He also updated the board on Hampton High School planning, saying the district expects to bring multiple options to the board in April but that a critical final financial piece remains outstanding before the board can make an informed decision.
Other operational items mentioned in the director's report included maintenance work on baseball and softball fields with FEMA involvement and continued sharing of fields among schools for practices and games. Carpenter also highlighted district achievements: recent high ACT scores, expanded career and technical education and middle college offerings, employee raises, and a multi‑year bus replacement plan.
CCEA (classified employee association) announcements included an upcoming retreat and a workshop; Keith Flowers delivered those brief scheduling items to the board.
The board adopted the meeting agenda and consent agenda earlier in the session without recorded opposition.
