Columbus City Council on April 1 adopted Resolution 0063X‑2025 to honor the founding of Fortuna Bank, described in council remarks as Ohio’s first woman‑owned bank.
Councilmember Barossa de Padilla introduced the resolution at the close of Women’s History Month and read brief background about the bank’s mission to expand access to capital and financial literacy services for women entrepreneurs and underserved small businesses in Central Ohio. Councilmembers praised the initiative; one councilmember noted that women‑owned businesses are a growing segment of small businesses in Columbus.
Co‑founder Lisa Berger and CEO Eleria Rollins (as introduced in council remarks) spoke briefly and thanked council for the recognition. Organizer and shareholder Christie Angel—present at council—also noted that the bank officially opened to the public in late December and began work in January.
The resolution was adopted by roll‑call vote; the clerk recorded that Councilmember Beatty abstained and other members recorded affirmative votes in the roll call used to adopt the measure.
