Sheriff Jay Cantrell told the Washington County County Services Committee that calls for service during the last reporting period were "unremarkable" and that the office sent fewer people to prison than in the same period a year earlier.
Cantrell said the average daily high count was up "a little bit" and federal prisoner numbers were up compared with last year; a cited figure of 87 for a category of prisoners was "currently 79 today," he said. He invited committee members to ask questions about anything not included in the written report supplied in the meeting packet.
