Tanglewood residents press county over road ownership dispute; commissioners advise legal review and to wait for new counsel

Rob Kelsey and another Tanglewood representative addressed the commission during public comment, asking for an immediate resolution to a long-running dispute over whether roads in the Tanglewood subdivision are public or private.
"Every day that we do not get an answer or we do not work out a system or work out anything with the county ... our roads go down toilet," Rob Kelsey said. He asked the county to help maintain and repair the subdivision roads and to provide a clear path forward.
Commissioners said the county had already provided the petitioner with an explanation from county counsel and that the matter would need legal follow-up. Because the county is onboarding a new county counselor, commissioners asked for two weeks and said staff would have counsel examine the case and place it on a future agenda for discussion.
Commissioner (not specified) suggested that legal counsel reach out to the residents' counsel and that the matter be scheduled in two weeks after the new counsel starts. Staff said they would not proceed with road work while ownership is in dispute; any road maintenance that would normally be done was paused pending legal review.
Ending: Staff will arrange legal counsel contact with Tanglewood representatives and place the matter on the agenda after the county's new counsel begins.
