Staff presents 2025 municipal wastewater planning survey; resolution offered for council review

City wastewater staff presented the municipal wastewater planning program survey required by the state and noted a correction to the capital projects amounts before the council.

“Jeez. When we put this in, it's a Google Doc that goes straight to the state, and then it goes into captures the information in, an Excel spreadsheet, but we don't have the ability to change this once we submit it. And when we submitted the capital projects, you'll notice $17.18, and 19 and $20,000,000 That should be 1.7, 1.81 0.9. So you're not really thrown for a loop there,” wastewater manager Corby said, explaining a decimal-placement error in the survey submission and noting the state has fixed the figure on its side.

Corby said the annual survey serves three purposes: to support budgetary planning, to satisfy requirements for low-interest loans from the state Division of Water Quality board, and to give the council an opportunity to review system needs so staff do not bring emergency problems to the council unexpectedly. Staff said the survey includes technical collection-system information and a financial section supplied by the finance department.

Council members were invited to ask questions; none were recorded in the work meeting. Staff said a resolution confirming the council's review is available for approval and that, upon approval, the city will send the document to the state for compliance. No formal vote on the resolution was recorded during the work session.
