Director Murray (identified in the meeting as the presenter for facility purchases) recommended purchasing a wheelchair washer from We Care Solutions for $11,445 plus a $694 shipping charge, saying the vendor supplied the county's prior unit and replacement parts for the old machine are no longer available. The board voted to waive the formal three-bid process because only two bids were received and the director said the recommended unit was the lowest-priced option with a known performance record. The motion to approve the purchase and waive bidding passed on a voice vote.
The commissioners approved buying four resident refrigerators from Barrons Appliances at $1,100 each (total $4,559.96 including disposal/recycling fees). Director Murray said the replacements will serve first-floor resident areas and that last year’s replacements covered the second floor; he also said the county typically offers replaced units for staff sale or to other county departments before disposal.
The board approved issuing a $5,000 check to Whitney Consulting Group, which was listed on the meeting agenda for work associated with the Hale location.
Commissioners authorized an RFP to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van; the staff package cited a budget estimate of $93,000 based on an earlier quote. The board approved issuing the RFP with an approximately 30-day response window.
The maintenance agreement for the county's seven backup generators was presented as a three-year package that includes two visits per year (a minor and a major preventive maintenance).
