Lewis told the board the district’s pre‑K play‑based learning initiative received the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence outstanding program award; the program provided dozens of classrooms with durable materials for sensory and play activities. Lewis said the Simmons First Foundation helped fund the program and that SPEF has used corporate partners, individual donors and local businesses to support teacher grants and pilot programs, including early robotics exposure for fourth and fifth graders.
Board members praised SPEF’s fundraising and community support; the meeting noted that the foundation’s recent Taste of Stillwater event drew a record crowd of 1,137 attendees. Trustees thanked Lewis for the foundation’s work; no board action or funding change was taken at the recognition.
