Commissioners update memorandum of understanding with Jefferson County Conservation District

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners approved an updated memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Jefferson County and the Jefferson County Conservation District that outlines mutual responsibilities, legal support and operational arrangements.
County staff explained the MOU updates bring the agreement current with 2025 standards and reflect changes in the conservation district’s operations. The county earlier conveyed the property that houses the conservation district’s office; the updated MOU documents that transfer and clarifies county support for services, legal counsel and other mutual responsibilities.
The board noted the MOU is reviewed on a five-year cycle and that staff worked with the conservation district and county counsel to prepare the 2025 update. Commissioners approved the MOU by motion; no amendments were recorded during the meeting.
The updated MOU is intended to formalize existing arrangements and ensure clarity about county support and responsibilities moving forward.
