Sedgwick County agenda preview: proclamations, appointments, mental health contract update and overdose grant application

County staff previewed items that will appear on the commission's upcoming Wednesday agenda, including county announcements, proclamations, board appointments, contract updates, a bid-item and a federal grant application.
Tanya told commissioners there will be three county announcements (April burn bans, the winners of an "I Voted" contest to be announced by the election commissioner, and a health-department update on a measles vaccination clinic), two proclamations (a national child-abuse proclamation with Kansas Children's SERPS League and a proclamation declaring YIP Financial Literacy Month), and two appointments to the Aging and Physical Disabilities Board (Commissioner Wise's appointment and Commissioner Beatty's appointment). Staff indicated Justin will handle the appointments together at the formal meeting.
Staff said Item G on the consent agenda updates a historical contract with the Mental Health Association to reflect new Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) fees and shared services arrangements. Staff recognized Comcare and legal staff for work over several months to complete the contract update.
A bid-board item listed an asphalt rejuvenation contract described in the briefing as a roughly $1 million contract for an asphalt rejuvenation provider. An ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) interagency agreement with the Wichita Police Department and the sheriff's office appeared as an update to run through the end of the federal fiscal year.
On the federal overdose grant (Item H), staff said the county planned to submit an application but cautioned the grant may have a low chance of receiving federal funds given current federal funding trends for health. Tanya noted the county had applied for the grant previously and that clinicians had briefed the commission about it the prior year.
No formal action was taken at the agenda-review briefing; items were presented for commissioners'information and placement on the upcoming consent and regular agendas.
