CNMI Scholarship Board reports 237 awards totaling about $171,312; board seeks continued appropriations

Monique Boyer Sablan, vice chairwoman of the CNMI Scholarship Board of Directors, thanked the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation for appropriations that the board uses to fund students pursuing higher education and workforce training.
"For the winter quarter and spring semester of 02/2025, we received a total of 247 applications, and we were able to award scholarships to 237 students," Monique Boyer Sablan said. She added that 132 of those recipients are studying at Northern Marianas College and Northern Marianas Technical Institute, while 82 are enrolled at the University of Guam or other off‑island institutions.
Boyer Sablan said the total support provided for those awards was $171,312.50 and that 93 recipients are currently fulfilling their service commitments to the community under the board's obligation program. She asked the delegation for continued appropriations to maintain and expand the scholarship program.
The report and request were made during the delegation's public-comment period; there was no formal vote recorded on the floor during the remarks.
