Staff told the council the solicitation produced no bids and asked for guidance: reissue the RFP for broader distribution or select a contractor outside the normal competitive process. Council member Parker moved that the town seek out additional tree-trimming services, instructing staff to prepare a scope and send it to multiple firms.
Council discussed whether the work required an ISA-certified arborist; staff said an arborist has already identified the trees that need trimming and the RFP is intended to hire crews to do the work. Councilors expressed support for outreach to local and regional companies and noted one suggested contractor by name.
The council approved the motion 3-0 to seek additional proposals and proceed with procurement under applicable purchasing rules.
