The Stevensville Town Council approved engaging Great West for a town growth-policy update funded through a CTAP grant, and staff outlined an expedited schedule and community outreach plan.
Town staff described Great West's experience with similar-sized towns and presented a proposed schedule that begins with a kickoff meeting and includes planning-and-zoning review and classroom outreach to involve students and families. Staff indicated a kickoff meeting would be scheduled within weeks, with planning-and-zoning receiving the project at its next meeting.
Council members supported an outreach approach that includes contacting local schools and the public, posting notices and involving planning-and-zoning and other stakeholders. Staff noted the town had received CTAP funding and that the firm’s work could include timelines and suggested projects; the packet referenced prior towns Great West had assisted and the approach to water projects and community input.
Council said the update is timely — the town's previous growth policy dates to February 2016 — and welcomed the grant-funded assistance. Staff and council said they would coordinate scheduling and public notice for kickoff events and subsequent public input opportunities.
