Commissioners approved John Mulidi's request to hold the display on Saturday, June 28 (with a rain date of Sunday, June 29). The operator provided an insurance certificate to the commission during the meeting and was instructed to file the necessary paperwork with state authorities and the local fire marshal.
"You're the one who does the most paperwork — he's got to do all the paperwork for the file with the state and the fire marshal," a commissioner said during discussion; the operator confirmed he would supply the certificate of insurance and complete filings.
The motion passed by voice vote. Park staff and the town fire chief will coordinate final inspection and permitting steps before the permit is issued.
Why it matters: The fireworks display is a longtime town celebration and generates revenue for the parks through gate and vendor activity, but it carries public-safety and permitting obligations that the operator must satisfy before the event.
