The commission considered three land-use items that evening. On project 23-2770-FL-PLA, the final plat for a proposed 15-lot single-family subdivision called Vista Way (approximately 32.41 acres, HMOB Railroad survey, abstract 35), a motion to deny the plat passed. The commission reopened the item after members asked to add specificity to the basis for denial; commissioners then amended the motion to deny the final plat "due to noncompliance with city standards," and the amended motion carried. Two rezoning requests were postponed. Project 23-2777-R-REZ sought to rezone an approximately 4.035-acre tract (property ID 984238, Travis County Appraisal District) in the Mary Campbell survey, abstract 129, from TR-1 (temporary restricted) to C-2 (general commercial retail). Project 23-2778-R-REZ sought to rezone an approximately 3.776-acre tract (property ID 999032, Travis Central Appraisal District) in the same survey and abstract, from TR-1 to C-2. Commissioners voted to postpone both rezone requests to the commission—s regularly scheduled meeting on May 8 to allow for additional notification consistent with city and state law.
On a separate discussion item, members considered potential amendments to the city—s tree-preservation standards (City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 14, Exhibit A). A commissioner noted that a subcommittee member who has been working on the draft was not present and recommended postponing the discussion until May so the packet can include the subcommittee—s materials; the commission voted to postpone that discussion to the May meeting.
The commission emphasized that the staff will provide applicants with written details of deficiencies (in the case of the denied plat) and that applicants should work with staff to address issues before returning to the commission. The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:50 p.m.
