Zion council approves street-and-bridge and motor fuel tax budgets for FY2026

The Zion City Council approved the street-and-bridge and motor fuel tax budgets for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2026, at the March 4 meeting.
Director Conway told the council these funds are standalone and do not affect the general fund. "In the interest of moving forward with the necessary IDOT paperwork in the bid process, I'm presenting both the street and bridge budget and the motor fuel tax budget ... for consideration," Conway said.
Conway recommended approval so staff could complete IDOT paperwork and proceed with project bids. Commissioner Fisher moved to approve the budgets; Commissioner McDowell seconded. A roll call vote recorded ayes and the motion carried.
Council members did not discuss specific line-item changes at length; Conway said approving the standalone budgets now would allow engineering and bidding steps to continue on schedule.
