The Sykesville Planning Commission last week recommended that the town proceed with a conditional-use application from a developer proposing an assisted-living facility on Parcel B.
At the March 10 town council meeting, a council liaison summarized the planning commission's discussion, saying commissioners generally viewed the proposal as one of the better submittals for that parcel and recommended it move forward. The commission asked the applicant to provide more detailed site plans, design information and a clearer project vision before the town evaluates final site plans.
If the Board of Zoning Appeals grants conditional use, the applicant will return with site plans to the planning commission for review and council consideration as required. Councilmembers said they want the developer to present clearer project details as the process continues; there was discussion the town has spent legal resources related to the broader Warfield matter and that clarity would help move the matter forward.
No formal council vote on the project was taken at the meeting; the item on March 10 was an informational update on the planning commission recommendation and the next steps on land-use review.
