Commission renews Henry Hotel lease funding and tiny-cabin contract at 33 Golf; vice chair flags Prop C use

The Homelessness Oversight Commission on March 6 approved consent items renewing operations at the Henry Hotel on Sixth Street and renewing the tiny-cabin program at 33 Golf.

Henry Hotel: Vice Chair Kristen Evans questioned HSH about a 4% portion of the Henry Hotel renewal that HSH says will be funded from Prop C/Our City Our Home allocations. HSH materials and staff response explained that the 4% is funded through two OCO spending-plan items: a shallow subsidy to reduce PSH tenant rents to no more than 30% of adjusted income and a portion of case-management wage-equity enhancements that were funded in prior fiscal action. HSH said both uses were part of previous OCO spending plans and, in the department—s view, meet Prop C criteria. The commission approved the consent item by roll call.

33 Golf tiny cabins: The commission also approved a renewal for the 33 Golf tiny-cabin site, which HSH said currently operates 70 cabins and serves approximately 70 guests with no current vacancies. HSH told the commission the annual cost per participant for 2025-26 is approximately $49,406, with an overall annual budget of about $3.46 million for the site (HSH provided the line-item summary in the consent packet). Evans and public commenters asked about oversight, monitoring, security and contract performance; HSH staff said monitoring and performance history documents are in the packet and that the Shelter Monitoring Committee and contract compliance processes apply. The consent items passed by roll-call vote with all commissioners voting aye.
