Utah Senate Consents to Multiple Gubernatorial Appointments, Confirms State Privacy Officer

The Utah Senate voted to consent to a series of appointments transmitted by Gov. Spencer J. Cox and to confirm the State Auditor’s nominee for state privacy officer.

In letters read into the record, Gov. Spencer J. Cox transmitted multiple appointments dated Jan. 27, 2025, including reappointments and new members to the Board of Oil, Gas, and Mining; the Board of Pardons and Parole; the Public Service Commission; and the Utah State Retirement Board. Committee reports from the Senate Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Confirmation Committee, the Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment Confirmation Committee, and the Transportation, Public Utilities, Energy and Technology Confirmation Committee recommended favorable consideration for various nominees.

Sen. Wilson moved that the Senate vote to consent to the appointments as read by Senate staff. The roll-call consent vote recorded 23 ayes, 0 nays and 6 absent.

Separately, Tina M. Cannon, the Utah state auditor, transmitted a Jan. 27, 2025, letter requesting advice and consent for Nora Korzova (transcribed as Nora Kursova) as state privacy officer and chief privacy auditor pursuant to Utah Code 67-3-1. The Senate Government Operations Confirmation Committee reported favorably and Sen. Wilson moved consent; the Senate recorded 23 ayes, 0 nays and 6 absent on that nomination as well. Senator Lance Gibson and others provided committee reports in support of nominees during the proceedings.
