CDRA: tree planting planned May 31 at park; larger buffer trees deferred to fall

At its March 11 meeting the Mount Pleasant CDRA discussed tree-planting plans for the city park and surrounding areas, including timing and irrigation concerns.
Staff said the small park planting is scheduled for May 31 and will include 10 trees at the park; planting around the new arena is planned for the fall. A larger planting of roughly 50 trees is intended to create a buffer—contingent on securing a water line or appropriate irrigation—between the industrial park area and the equestrian center.
Members raised concerns about how the newly planted trees would be watered while the sprinkler system is not yet completed. Staff said volunteers or hand-watering might be used initially if the sprinkler system is not operational by the May 31 date. CDRA members asked staff to confirm irrigation timing and to finalize species and placement during an upcoming consultation referenced for the Fourplex and other sites.
