Moroni council authorizes RFPs for garbage collection and annual auditing services

The Moroni City Council on March 20 authorized staff to issue requests for proposals (RFPs) for municipal garbage collection and for annual auditing services.
Council members said both services exceed the city's $15,000 procurement threshold and should be competitively bid. Council member comments noted that the city paid approximately $16,000 for auditing services in the prior year and that competitive bids could help ensure a fair market price.
City staff said the RFPs could be prepared and posted so new contracts would take effect July 1. Council member Sherry Green moved to direct staff to prepare the RFPs; the motion was seconded by Council member Brett Wolfenstein and approved by voice vote (ayes, no opposition).
Council discussion included regular rebidding to keep prices aligned and a two-year term option as an example of prior procurement practice. Staff (Gary) was identified as the administrator who will prepare and release the solicitations.
