Senate honors ProStart winners; Davies culinary team to represent Rhode Island in Baltimore

Senate action named the top competitors as coming from Chariho Regional Career & Technical Center, Charles E. Shea Senior High School, Exeter Job Corps Academy, Newport Area Career and Technical Center, Warwick Area Career and Technical Center, and William M. Davies Jr. Career & Technical High School. The resolution lists the William M. Davies junior career and technical high school culinary team members as Bobby Calder, Abigail Grelan, and Aliyah Dantzler; the Davies food service management winners as Kennedy Houle and Adriana Jimenez; and the Chariho hospitality and tourism management team as Molly Kennedy, Morgan Allen, Olivia Swanson and Juliet Costa. The Davies culinary and food-service teams were noted as advancing to the national ProStart Invitational.
After the resolution was moved and seconded and the roll was closed, the presiding officer called for the ayes; the resolution passed by voice vote. Members of the winning teams and a Davies chef, Santo Neves, were introduced on the Senate floor and acknowledged by senators who had served as judges and supporters of the program.
The resolution directs the secretary of state to transmit certified copies to the schools named in the text and to other appropriate officials, per the resolution language.
