Committee adopts technical amendment to House File 1482, lays bill over for possible inclusion

Members of a Minnesota House committee approved a technical amendment to House File 1482 and then laid the bill over for possible inclusion.

The amendment, read into the record by Ms. Taylor, replaces "Bay West, LLC" with "Freshwater Society" on page 19, line 7. "The amendment would read page 19 line 7, delete Bay West, LLC, and insert Freshwater Society," Ms. Taylor said. The committee approved the amendment by voice vote.

Rep. Hansen described the measure as a two-year, "clean" version of recommendations from LCCMI and said it could be laid over for possible inclusion in future legislation. "This is a clean bill, that would be laid over for possible inclusion or could move out separately," Rep. Hansen said. Earlier in the meeting he noted a separate community grant program had been discussed in a prior hearing and that the current text removes that attachment.

A roll call was briefly requested and then withdrawn; the committee did not record a roll-call vote on the final disposition. The chair announced that, instead of being referred to the Ways and Means Committee as initially moved, the motion was changed and House File 1482 was laid over as amended for possible inclusion.

No public testimony was offered; the committee chair asked whether any testifiers were present and the record shows none signed up.

The action leaves the bill available for further consideration or inclusion in other legislation; committee members did not adopt a final referral to another committee at this session.
