During the public comment portion of the March 27 special meeting, resident Ben Hall of 2926 Brayside Place asked whether the city had plans to install curbs and storm drains along Beardsley, where gravel shoulders have been experiencing erosion.
Hall told the council the gravel shoulders are eroding from vehicle traffic and snow‑plow operations and said the issues are worse near 50th Street where the bike path runs adjacent to the street. “With the gravel out there, there's a lot of erosion… there's a lot of wash out down there,” Hall said.
City staff responded that the area is included in the city’s capital improvement plan (CIP) but that no construction timeline is yet set. “In the meantime, I can certainly pass this along to public works to have them go take a look at that,” a city staff member said. The staff member also acknowledged past maintenance had repaired problems but said repeated placement of rock can be inefficient if the underlying erosion is not addressed.
Hall said he works in highway maintenance and commended public works for snow removal while noting the shoulder damage caused by those operations. The council did not take formal action during the meeting; staff said they would forward the resident’s concerns to public works for inspection and potential maintenance or planning action.
