The United Nations said World Food Programme trucks delivered 1,200 metric tons of food and nutrition assistance to about 100,000 people in Bari and Al Madamoun (Amduram) localities in Khartoum state — the first WFP deliveries to those specific areas since the most recent round of hostilities began.
The International Organization for Migration told the UN that nearly 400,000 internally displaced people have recently returned to their towns and villages across Al Jazirah, Sennar and Khartoum states, but that many have returned to areas with little or no access to basic services including shelter, food and health care. The UN said displacements from North Darfur and other insecure states have increased due to high insecurity.
Turning to Haiti, the UN said OCHA estimates that in the prior year roughly 3,000,000 people received at least one form of humanitarian assistance out of an original target of about 3,600,000. The 2025 humanitarian response plan requires more than $900,000,000 to support about 3,900,000 people and was financed at about 5% — approximately $46,000,000 — at the time of the briefing.
The UN said UNFPA continues to operate two safe spaces for women and girls in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area and that mobile teams have been deployed to displacement sites where security permits. The briefing noted violence is constraining humanitarian activity and access in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area.
