The board scheduled a series of half‑day slots beginning May 1 (08:30–13:00), and held additional tentative half‑day and afternoon dates through December to advertise for supplemental appeals.
The assessor's office reported its current appeals intake: 41 appeal applications distributed and nine returned, with two later withdrawn, leaving seven active returns at the time of the meeting. Pete Lynch of the assessor's office said appeals volume has varied in previous years and that the earlier scheduling was intended to begin hearings sooner than in prior cycles.
On packet distribution, assessor staff said they will send hearing materials electronically about one week in advance and provide paper notebooks at meetings on request. Board members said they prefer reviewing materials in advance and having paper copies during hearings. "My policy is to get at least a week in advance to get that information to you," Pete Lynch said.
Members discussed time allotments per appeal and agreed to continue handling requests for extended hearing time on a case‑by‑case basis; those requests must be submitted in writing under the rules of procedure. The board also discussed room preference for hearings and asked staff to try to reserve the larger conference room (Room 241) where available.
The board asked that staff continue to provide guidance to applicants, noting an existing one‑page guidance sheet for residential appellants that the assessor's office had circulated in prior years. That document is to be emailed to applicants with hearing confirmations.
No formal vote was required to set tentative dates and packet preferences; the board approved scheduling and administrative direction by consensus during the meeting.
