Bannock County commissioners on March 27 approved awarding the installation contract for a detention-center diesel generator to ProBuilders, county security and operations staff recommended.
Levi and county security staff explained the county originally budgeted approximately $315,000 to replace the generator and had planned to bundle purchase and installation. After staff restructured procurement to separately purchase the generator and competitively bid installation, staff procured a generator for about $100,000 and received ProBuilders’ installation bid of roughly $51,000, substantially reducing project cost compared with the original bundled estimate.
Why it matters: The procurement shift cut the county’s estimated cost for the generator replacement and installation roughly in half compared with the initial $315,000 planning figure, according to staff. Commissioners approved awarding the installation contract to ProBuilders by voice vote.
Staff noted there is a potential trade-in/credit value for the old generator; commissioners directed staff to address disposition and any trade-in credit as a separate matter. Notification letters associated with the procurement were provided for commissioner signatures.
The vote to award the contract was taken by voice vote; the motion carried with commissioners responding “aye.”
