The City of Wagoner Council on March 26 voted to accept a bid and enter into a contract with Drake Construction LLC for $68,600 to complete Phase 2 of the Cassevered Drainage Project, consisting of cast-in-place concrete junction boxes.
City staff reported that the original contractor for the cast-in-place boxes filed for bankruptcy after completing part of the contract, leaving five boxes outstanding. Staff solicited new proposals for the remaining work; Drake Construction submitted the winning bid. Staff told the council the bonding company will cover unpaid material claims left by the bankrupt contractor and that the city expects the net fiscal exposure not to exceed amounts provided in the original contract terms.
The council discussed payments for materials the prior contractor had not paid; staff said the bonding company would pay about $24,000 in unpaid materials and that the city would not pay more than the original contract amount. The council approved the contract on a roll call vote.
Action: Motion to accept the bid and enter into a contract with Drake Construction LLC for $68,600 passed on roll call (yes votes recorded from Wagner, Abernathy, Sampson, North, Butler, Wright, Higginbotham).
