The county’s budget committee reported committee-recommended amendments and transfers at the March 10 workshop, and the mayor presented several appointments for commission confirmation.
Budget committee chair reported amendments including $4,100 for circuit court data-processing upgrades, $1,000 from the Mutt Nation Foundation for animal control, and a $5,504 transfer in the accounting and budget office to cross-train a replacement clerk. The committee also reported consideration of a $180,000 request from the school board to purchase marquees for middle schools. The budget committee chair said the committee had passed its recommendations by a 4–0 committee vote and asked the full commission if there were questions.
The mayor presented several appointments for confirmation: Jill Nikolic to the Cheatham County Planning Commission to fill the opening from John Warren (term through Dec. 30, 2029, as stated in the packet); Powell Grant for a county chief appointment; Jim Dillingham to the rail authority (replacing a prior appointee); Rachel Dutton and Charles Moorhead to the Solid Waste Regional Planning Board (terms to begin after March 31). Commissioners asked questions, and the mayor described candidates’ backgrounds. No roll-call votes were recorded in the workshop discussion; the mayor asked for confirmation at the appropriate meeting.
Ending: The committee’s recommendations and the mayor’s nominations will proceed to the commission agenda for formal action; staff will provide any supplemental materials as requested by commissioners.
