Senate state administration: executive actions and roll calls on multiple bills

The Montana Senate State Administration Committee completed executive action on a list of bills and a resolution, concurring in the passage of multiple House bills, tabling one, and approving a Senate resolution by roll call.

The committee took voice votes to concur in several bills including House Bill 279 (revising county assignments for appointments to several boards), House Bill 380 (aligning the date for meeting of presidential electors with the Federal Election Count Act), House Bill 496 (retrocession of jurisdiction over certain federal lands used for military purposes), House Bill 679 (exempting certain Division of Criminal Investigation employees from state vehicle commuting restrictions), House Bill 455 (updating the candidate-certification deadline for municipal elections, as amended), House Bill 47 (revisions to the State Building Energy Conservation Act), House Bill 651 (passed; carrier volunteered), and others. House Bill 33 (authority to dismiss rulemaking petitions) was the subject of extended debate and was tabled on a substitute motion to table. Senate Resolution 4 (urging Congress to pursue a constitutional amendment to limit corporate campaign contributions and expenditures) passed on a roll call vote, 6–3.

Several bills were carried to the floor by committee members who volunteered to serve as floor sponsors. Where a roll call occurred, the committee recorded individual votes; for voice votes the committee recorded unanimous or majority passage as announced. The committee also held hearings on several bills that will proceed through the legislative process separately from the executive action items.
