Senate File 1706, described by Senator Kupek as "a small, but important technical fix," would permit selected Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) staff working in the Veterans Stable Housing initiative to have read-only access to the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) MAXIS database to verify eligibility and complete entry for veterans seeking benefits.
Kupek told the committee MDVA and DCYF staff had collaborated on the measure and that access would be limited to select MDVA staff with read-only permissions so they could not alter records. "This is a common sense change to help Minnesota get and to maintain functional 0 for veterans home," Kupek said.
Committee members had no questions and the measure was laid over.
