Transit Commission Approves Bus Barn Paving, Orders EV Paratransit Vehicle; Measure I town hall scheduled

Commissioners said the bus-barn project that began in 2018 is moving toward final asphalt paving and grade corrections so buses can safely exit the maintenance facility. The commission also approved purchase of an electric paratransit vehicle (described in discussion as a Ford model with a 100–125 mile range, seating for six plus a wheelchair position) including charging equipment; staff listed an approximate vehicle price near $121,000 including charging equipment.
The transit update also included work on the U.S. 162 corridor reconstruction project (from the western city limits near Airport Road through Wood Street) slated for 2026; fiber-optic conduit installation and pavement preparation work are underway in advance of the reconstruction.
Separately, a council member announced a Measure I finance and oversight town hall scheduled for April 15 at 5:30 p.m. to brief the public on the status of Measure I revenue and to solicit community input on spending priorities. Staff noted Measure I begins April 1 and that the town hall will be the newly formed Measure I oversight committee’s first public forum.
No formal council action was required on these updates; items were informational and will be tracked by the relevant departments.
