The Minnesota House of Representatives on March 20, 2025 recalled two bills from their original committees and re-referred them to different panels, approving both motions by voice vote during a short floor session.
Representative Backer moved that House File 2663 be recalled from the Committee on Human Services Finance and Policy and re-referred to the Committee on Health Finance and Policy. “This provides forecast adjustments, so it's appropriating money,” Representative Backer said, adding he had discussed the jurisdiction with the human services chair and that the bill “belongs to health.” Members approved the motion by voice vote; the clerk announced, “Motion prevails.”
Representative Schwartz moved that House File 2665 be recalled from the Committee on Agriculture Finance and Policy and re-referred to the Committee on Transportation Finance and Policy. Schwartz said she had spoken with the committee chairs and that they had agreed to the re-referral. That motion also passed by voice vote.
The House also approved routine business including the journal for the previous day, adoption of noncontroversial motions, and the first reading of several new house files. A rules committee announcement designated several bills for placement on the calendar for Thursday, March 27, 2025, citing rules 1.21 and 3.33. Representative Quam introduced visiting guests, noting the presence of Chairman Sikey and Secretary Strong from the Red Lake delegation.
