The Monterey County Planning Commission appointed David Preina to the North County Land Use Advisory Committee and Stephen Hooper to the Toro Land Use Advisory Committee during the same meeting in which it considered land‑use permits. The commission also acknowledged the resignations of David Evans (North County LUAC), Orville Myers (Cachagua LUAC) and Thomas Whitley from the Native American and Archaeological Resources Technical Advisory Panel (NARTAP).
Commissioner Shaw moved to appoint David Preina to the North County LUAC; Commissioner Hartsell seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Deal moved to appoint Stephen Hooper to the Toro LUAC; Commissioner Mendoza seconded and that motion also carried unanimously.
Commissioners used the appointments and resignations to note the volunteer service LUAC members provide. Commissioner Shaw publicly thanked David Evans for years of service to the North County LUAC; staff noted ongoing efforts to recruit members for NARTAP and asked commissioners to refer interested tribal monitors or other qualified professionals.
No public speakers addressed the appointments during the hearing; motions carried without recorded opposition.
