Councilmember Price, who spoke in support, framed the motion as part of prior committee work on economic development and urged attention to small-business participation. Several public commenters at the start of the meeting had also urged stronger local hiring and higher wages, including a remark from a union-affiliated speaker who said, “tenemos que subir el salario para asegurar que los trabajadores tengan su parte de todo.”
The roll call on the motion recorded affirmative votes from the councilmembers listed on the record: Concejal Aristósin; Concejal Aris; Concejal Price; Concejal Soto Martínez; Concejal Yarezlovsky; Concejal Ala Padilla; Concejal Bloomenfield; and Concejala Rodríguez. The committee chair announced that the item had been approved.
Committee members and public speakers said they expect ongoing follow-up reporting and more detailed local-hire targets in future committee meetings. The committee chair committed to continued engagement between LA28 staff and council offices to track local hiring outcomes.
