Board approves appointments, contracts and consent items; defers hazardous‑waste upgrade

Appointments and reappointments (motions adopted by roll call unless noted): • Edward Merrivo — appointed to the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department Board of Code Standards and Appeals (architect position). Sworn in at the meeting. • Joanne Kilgore — reappointed to the Sedgwick County Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board (D–H package included other appointments/reappointments: Constance Foster, Dr. Renee Patrick, Christiana Pranyon and Stacy Rogers). Bids and contracts (Board of Bids and Contracts recommendations approved): • Telematics equipment and services for Public Works — utilize Sourcewell contract 20221‑SAM (AMOUNT: $82,089; vendor noted in packet). • Ambulance procurement for Emergency Medical Services/Fleet Management — utilize HGACBuy contract AEVAM10‑2023 with American Response Vehicles/American Emergency Vehicles (AMOUNT: $390,377). • Waste tire transportation services for Environmental Resources — accept proposal from Champlin Tire Recycling (rate: $198 per scale ton).
Other formal actions: • Minutes for 03/05/2025 and 03/12/2025 — approved as one combined motion by roll call. • Item O (Household hazardous waste upgrades, Board of Bids and Contracts reconsideration) — deferred at the County Manager’s request for additional staff analysis; staff will return the item April 9. • Consent agenda items Q through AM — approved by roll call as presented.
Roll-call tallies recorded on the record showed unanimous approval for the actions listed above (Commissioners Bluebaugh, Wise, Howe, Meitzner and Chairman Beatty voted aye on recorded items). Several appointees present were sworn in during the meeting by the county clerk.
The meeting also paused to conduct Sedgwick County Fire District No. 1 business before returning to the county agenda; commissioners approved regular Fire District items and acknowledged recent lifesaving drone work by firefighters. No other binding actions were taken during the executive session that followed the public meeting.
