Several councilmembers used their reports portion of the meeting to update the council and public on local events, regional transit pilots and lake-related work.
Councilmember Sheridan, the city’s RTA representative, said there had been no RTA meeting since the council’s last session but noted an RTA meeting was scheduled in Menifee the next day. Sheridan also described a March 12 ribbon-cutting for Omeo, a New Zealand and Australia-based company building electric autonomous shuttles; he said RTA is working with Omeo on three zero-emission shuttles scheduled to operate in Riverside and that the company indicated interest in visiting Lake Elsinore in the future.
Sheridan and Mayor Pro Tem McGee highlighted Lake Elsinore’s recreational calendar: the Lake Elsinore Storm baseball season and promotional events including Sip and Swing (April 4–6) and a first pitch on April 8; Sheridan noted there will not be a council meeting on April 8 because the council will attend opening night.
Councilmember Johnson reported on a meeting with Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District and said lake elevation was at approximately 1,246 feet and that projections and weather indicated a positive outlook for the year. Johnson also provided an update on a septic-to-sewer grant project for Sedco Hills and Avenue Streets that will convert septic connections to sewer at no cost to qualified residents; she said the project will be 48 months in duration once it starts.
Mayor Pro Tem McGee said a Watershed Authority strategic plan meeting had prioritized lake health and reported that, as of the 19th of the month, there were no detectable levels of toxic algae. Officials also noted recent and planned fish stocking events.
Johnson announced that LaunchPoint campground received a 2025 Campspot Award as a top unique midsize campground. Councilmembers promoted community events including the color run on April 12 and a Bunny Trunk Hop in downtown on April 19.
Councilmembers also reminded residents about mosquito season and recommended removing standing water after rains; a staff representative said the mosquito district would monitor known trouble spots. McGee and Sheridan both encouraged residents to attend town halls on fire safety in Tuscany Hills and Canyon Hills led by the city’s fire division.
These updates were informational; no formal council action or new funding decisions were made during the reports section.
