The Committee of Human Service voted to move three Board of Library Trustees confirmations en banc and approved a staff appointment for the committee.
The committee moved P R 26-0118 (Antonio Williams), P R 26-0119 (Andrew Trueblood) and P R 26-0120 (Maria Peace) for confirmation to the Board of Library Trustees. The chair said each nominee—s background and prior service were reasons for reappointment; Mr. Williams currently serves as board chair and works in local government affairs for Comcast NBCUniversal, Mr. Trueblood has prior service as the District—s Director of the Office of Planning and serves on the board—s facilities committee, and Ms. Peace chairs the contracts review committee and works in construction and development.
The committee also approved the Committee on Human Services Second Staff Appointment Resolution to appoint Emily Schaney as legislative assistant for the Committee on Human Services; the chair listed the offices she will help coordinate with, including the Mayor's Office of Latinx Affairs and the Mayor's Office of Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs.
Earlier on the agenda the committee also considered title 1 of B26-0164, the Rebalancing Expectations for Neighbors, Tenants, and Landlords Act of 2025. The committee print strikes title 1 in its entirety from the rental act because title 1 is nearly identical to B26-0046 (the ERAP amendment) and removing it will allow the rental act to proceed while B26-0046 takes effect before expiration of temporary emergency provisions.
All motions reported in this session were approved by voice vote and the chair declared the ayes have it.
Provenance: The nominations and staff appointment are introduced and discussed in the transcript and the committee moved the prints en banc and approved the motions without objection.
