Rising Sun schedules hydrant flushing, dumpster day and other spring public-works events; town staff reports sewer plant passed test

Assistant Town Administrator Judy told the board on March 25 that the town will flush hydrants on April 15, 16 and 17 starting after 9 p.m., and that a free dumpster day is scheduled for April 26.
Judy said the town will place a dumpster at 13 East Cherry for a cleanup effort and that Duke (a contractor/crew referenced in staff remarks) will clean the exterior of that site. She said staff are removing carpet and painting a room at the cultural center and will use the dumpster to dispose of old carpet. The assistant also said public-works crews are beginning spring tasks such as mulching and weed-eating.
Staff reported that the sewer plant “did pass another one of the wet tests,” a result the assistant described as “a really good thing.” Chief Peterson and others reminded residents of community events that may affect traffic, including the Rising Sun Middle School Tiger Trot (run begins at 9 a.m.), Riserstown Fire Company Easter egg hunts and craft show, and the Rising Sun Little League parade the following weekend.
Commissioner Augie Pearson asked whether the town could provide a larger or double dumpster for Little League event needs; Pearson said the league expects dumpsters will fill quickly as season activities begin.
