South Gate council approves consent calendar and $2.72 million in warrants; two members recuse
Summary

The South Gate City Council approved consent calendar items 3 through 8 and accepted a warrant register totaling $2,716,745.33 during its March 25 meeting.
Council member Hurtado recused himself from item 7 because of proximity to his residence; Council member Rios recused himself from item 6. Vice Mayor Barone and other members voted to approve the consent items with those recusals recorded during roll call.
The city clerk read the consent calendar into the record and the council moved and seconded the motion to approve the listed items. The motion passed after roll call and recorded recusals. The warrant register was also presented and approved; no public comments were made on the warrants and no additional votes were recorded beyond the roll call.
A council member asked staff to meet with the city auditor and city manager to examine contract payment timing and late fees to identify ways to avoid avoidable late payments in the future. Staff acknowledged it would pursue options and follow up with the auditor.
The council adjourned the meeting in memory of Liliana Salazar Lopez.
