Planning commission asks staff to revisit home-occupation standards after public workshop

The commission heard from staff, residents and commissioners about whether to keep the current, concise home-occupation section of the zoning code or to add more explicit permitted and prohibited uses and performance standards.
Darcy Delgado, associate planner, told the commission the city currently has 675 active home-business licenses and that the zoning code overhaul adopted by City Council included a decision to keep the prior, shorter home-occupation rules in place. Delgado said staff’s earlier, more detailed draft aimed to reduce ambiguity by listing additional allowed and disallowed uses and by adding performance standards such as limits on customer frequency or commercial vehicle parking.
